Sensors and Data Acquisition
We have extensive experience in developing and integrating highly efficient electric, hydraulic, SMA, piezoelectric and hybrid actuators in wind tunnel models, underwater vehicles, flight vehicles, and spacecraft. Our sensor and data acquisition expertise includes:
- Miniature wireless sensors for monitoring strain, temperature, pressure and other load and environmental parameters
- Multiplexed strain sensor arrays for large area monitoring
- Robotic devices for monitoring damage on complex parts
- Wireless 9-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) based sensors for monitoring accelerations, velocities, and displacement
- Secure proprietary IMS band wireless protocol
- Artificial Hair Sensors which use Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) for unobtrusive flow sensing on aircraft, in wind tunnels and ground vehicles
- PVDF-TrFe dynamic, multi-axis load and vibration sensors fabricated using a unique Direct Acoustic Energy Deposition and FDM 3-D Printing
- 100 Hz wireless and 1000 Hz wired IMU based sensing system for monitoring human gait
- Miniature DAQ for flight testing sensors
These were developed under Army, Air Force, DARPA, NAVY, and NASA contracts as well as internal NextGen funds.
